European Commission survey on the functioning of the MID and NAWID Directives

Categories:

The European Commission has published on its Have your say portal calls for "submission of factual evidence for evaluation/fitness check" on the Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments Directive 2014/31/EU (NAWID) and the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (MID) to serve as one of the Commission's basis for assessing the fitness for purpose of the Directives. The evaluation is intended to provide an informed view on the current implementation of the Directive and on any shortcomings in its implementation that may have an impact on businesses, citizens and public administrations. The aim of the evaluation is to determine whether the benefits of the Meter Directive still outweigh the costs and whether there is potential for reducing administrative burdens. The Commission invites interested parties to provide relevant quantitative and qualitative information to participate in the survey. All information related to this evaluation, including a summary of the consultation activities, will be published on DG GROW's website.

The survey is open to the general public (non-experts and experts), businesses (especially SMEs), organisations, academic institutions and research institutes, etc. The latest deadline for providing feedback is 9 October 2025.
