Public consultation on the revision of the New Legislative Framework

On 12 November 2025, the European Commission launched a public consultation on its "Have your say" portal on the revision of the New Legislative Framework (NLF), which provides the legal framework for products in the EU common market.

Product legislation - ensuring futureproof rules (revision of the New Legislative Framework - NLF)

The public consultation follows on from the evaluation of the NLF which took place between 14 July and 2 September 2025 and identified areas for improvement.

Updating the NLF is necessary to integrate digital solutions into EU harmonisation legislation (e.g. through the introduction of a „digital product passport“), to support the EU's circular economy objectives and to improve the performance of notified bodies in product conformity assessment.

The public consultation is open until 4 February 2026 and any legal entity or individual can participate. Detailed information about the importance of the NLF can be found on the ÚNMZ website under hereby by reference.
